LeToya Luckett

Letoyia Luckett was one of the original members of Destiny's Child. Of course you know the rest of the story. She left, Bey blew up, and she was left w/ a dismantled group Anjel. But 2006 was LL's year. She released a new self titled album that surprised even the Knowles camp causing Bey to release early tracks from her album to counter the hype LL was garnishing with her hit Torn. Her album debuted number one on the US Billboard 200 and eventually went platinum. She is also slated to appear in an upcoming Tyler Perry film, "Daddy's Little Girl." It looks as if LL weathered the storm and so I give her the Comeback Kid of 2006 Award. So, what you know about this H-Town chick?

"A young chameleon, adapt to any circumstance.."
HiTek from the Blast

A chameleon tries to relate to any environment by changing its colors to blend with its surroundings. One black woman that has shown the chameleon complex this year is: Janet Jackson

Ms Janet, Ms Jackon if you're nasty, was a thick sister earlier in 2006. But you know that it cant last for long if you're a chick in the record biz. Just look at how the biz snapped Bey back into reality when she got a little hippy. Anyway, J smarten up to the game and sexed up her image for her new album release. She was a true chameleon switching her game up to adapt to the sex sells circumstance. Unfortunately for her, it didnt work and her album sales slumped.

I have to give just a moment of silence for the First Lady of the Civil Rights movement who passed away this year. Her funeral down in the "A" at New Birth was inspiring to see and listen. She fought a good fight in the struggle for minorities around the world and right here at home. Another chapter has closed in the fight for equal rights, but we still live on to continue to press on for the fight. RIP Corretta Scott King.

Other greats that were lost this year were:
Ed Bradley
Gordon Parks
Lou Rawls
Gerald LeVert
James Brown

Ms. Cynthia McKinney. All I have to say is chick please, beating up on the po-po's isnt a good look. Thousands of people daily go in and out of the Rayburn building in the front entrance, on the side entrances, and down below in the tunnel. How hard is it to show some ID when you have all these people coming through daily? I mean this a building that holds the worlds most powerful nation's law makers. I think they should have tight security like that. It just wasnt that serious for her to get all sensationalized like that. But what really gets me is when she finally realized she looked a fool playing the race card and she was going it alone, with no Congressional Black Caucus touching her like she had leprosy. She did try to make a comeback by matting down her 'fro and toning down her aggressive penchant for conspiracy theories. Unfortunately for her, it didnt work - she lost her chance to reclaim her Congressional House seat to Hank Johnson.

Runner Up....Babara Walters

Babs just really rubbed me the wrong way this year. First she called out Monique's kids as creatures on national tv...chick please. Then she asked Brandy if she was what was on top up her head her real hair...chick please...Then she has the nerve to put Star Jones on full blast after hiring Rosie O'Donnell to that sorry cast....All I have to say is....chick please.

The slip of the tongue has the ability to set back minorities to another time and place. These incidents show where each individual's heart really lies beneath the glossed over public persona. They obviously are keeping it true to their game. Here are the top incidents of the year that set us back 200 years.

George Allen
If you happened to be a VA resident, you know Mr. Allen was the Republican candidate for gub'ner. You also probably know he keep his fondness for racial slurs true to the game. And you say racism doesnt exist in America. Hmmmm....

Kramer
Enough has been said about this ragedy excuse of a comedy routine that despite his apologies, I feel he keep true to his actual beliefs. But, I dont even want to comment further that whats already been discussed. Let just say he really keep it true to the game.
