This post is marinating
to the music of:
Regulators...
Warren G f/ Nate Dogg

"Regulators,
We regulate any handling of the laws of this land;
And we damn good too,
But you can't be any geek off the street,
You've got to earn your keep
" adapted lyrics of Regulators

This week african americans made history in the business of regulating US politics.

Howard Law School grad and Kappa Alpha Psi frat, 35 year old Adrian Fenty, became the District of Columbia's youngest elected mayor.

Adrian Fenty

Chi City native (SOUTHSIDE!!) and Harvard Law grad, Deval Patrick, became the first black governor in the state of Massachussetts.

The first and only black governor in the USA, L. Douglas Wilder, had this to say on Patrick:

"I'm so happy to lose my title as being the only one, let me tell you how pleased I am to see it," said Wilder, who now serves as mayor of Richmond, Va. "Is it a furtherance of the American dream? Yes. Can he inspire other people? He will. So yes, I'm very, very happy to see this club expand."

Deval Patrick

Criminal defense attorney, Keith Ellison, became the first first African American elected to Congress from Minnesota. He also is the first Muslim sworn into federal office. He converted to the religion when he was in college.

He faced some criticism before he even stepped foot in his Capitol Hill office. Rep. Virgil Goode (R-Va.), sent a letter to hundreds of constituents in which he warned that “many more Muslims” will be elected to Congress and follow Ellison’s lead if immigration rules aren’t tightened. Umm, whatev. I guess Farrakahn is and Ali are threats to national security too.

Also, if youre in DC and had a chance to check out the Congressional Black Caucus shinding the other day, my fave gospel singer, Karen Clark Sheard, was there at their swearing in of the black lawmakers in the 110th session of Congress. I hope they all act right, including you Mr. Rangel and Mr. William Jefferson!!

Karen Clark Sheard belting out some knowledge, The D's coolest mayor of all time and FAMU alumni, mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

John Conyers from MI, NY's Charles Rangel, and Emanuel Cleaver II of MO sharing some secrets its seems but John's not having it!! And it looks as if M-I-crooked letter crooked letter's Representative, Ben Thompson is getting bumrushed by his fellow members, nothing but love all around!!

Kwame's mom and CBC's chairperson, Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, addressed the crowd, and the nation's first lady Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi dropped some knowledge as well
