Have you ever floated a check hoping your deposit makes it before the check does but it bounces anyway? Or have you ever been charged bank fees for erroneous fees like for a safety deposit box and you never got to pay them? Sometimes you might be deep in debt and bouncing that check is a small price to pay for keeping your lights on or feeding your family. Sometimes things happen and ChexSystems just makes it harder for you to rebound because if you're on their black list, banks will not open an account for you. So what do you do if you've been blacklisted from banks and need a bank account? Well there are programs and some banks that offer second chances to those who have less than stellar banking history.
So here's some solutions to the ChexSytems quandary.
GetChecking.org does for bad check writers what AA does for alcoholics. The program teaches you how responsibly manage your banking privileges and eventually open a checking account before the five year wait. Its sponsored by guess who..eFunds (owner of Chexsytems), so I would think this program would be very beneficial since this help comes straight from the people who jacked you up in the first place.
If you prefer to just wait out those 5 years for your negative history to fall off, Creditservicer.org has a frequently updated list of banks that do not use ChexSystems. Some of them are brick and mortar banks and some are online in case none of the listed banks are within your area.
Hopefully, this will help and you will find a route that can help you start your road to financial freedom in due time.
